World Cup 2007

Cricket is the flavour of the season. The media is going gaga over the Indian team's prospects .Infact former cricketers cocooned into oblivion are back into limelight. Infact such has been the dissection of the teams strength and weakness , that the famous probing computer technology the teams often indulge in to play on opponents' weakness has been driven to redundancy .
Infact the news hungry media gulped , glutted and pounced on this to up their TRP's . And leading the pack is our very own DD news which to morons such as me is the only window to the outside world via the scissors and whims and fancies of P R Munshi ,under whose stewardship , the broadcaster seems to have forefeited it's public broadcasting responsibilty , at the cost of more pressing issues.
Back to the World Cup , the format to start with seems to be inefficacious. Infact Pakistan one of the biggest crowd pullers is already out of the fray. Dividing teams into groups of four puts a lot undue price on every match at the initial stages . A bad day for the formidable teams can put their prospects in jeopardy. A better option would have been to have groups of two , kept the suspence intact . Already the World Cup is lsing it's sheen interms of Revenues and Spectators thronging the venues as the Asian giants face the danger of early exit. Infact the very bing bang start is conspicous by it's absence.
This World Cup however has bought in it's fold the tragic and untimely demice of Coaching Legend Bob Woolmer .
Infact the loss has been felt cutting across the countries . A thorogh professional who worked tirelessly with more than one cricketing giant and set in his trail new standards of professionalism , in a venture of Moron Cricket Coaching. His absence will long be felt by one and all. The man weathered many a storm but one with intransigent Pakistan , notorios for inconsistency.
Infact what the episode has is a lesson . Take sports just as another slug fest of skills rather than jingoistic display of nationalism.
